How to use Unmounted Stamps
Unmounted stamps can be mounted on cushion and either attached to wood blocks or acrylic blocks.
The use of “cling cushion” and acrylic blocks are being used more and more by stampers today for several of reasons.
Unmounted stamps take considerably less space to store, and with the use of the cling cushion mounted onto acrylic blocks, you can see through the acrylic block and it is much easier to line up your stamp on your stamping surface.
MOUNTING YOUR STAMPS ON “EZ-MOUNT” CLING CUSHION
Although a pair of sharp regular scissors will work for this step, a pair of KAI scissors work very well for cutting cushion and rubber stamps.
For smaller stamps, approx. 1”, the “Thin EZ-Mount” cling cushion is the best backing. For larger stamps the regular “EZ-Mount” cling cushion should be used.
Choose the appropriate sized acrylic block to fit your stamp and press your stamp onto the block. It stays in place by static cling.
When you are finished stamping, just peel off, clean your stamp, and store.
If your “cling” side ever gets dirty and starts to loose its cling, simply wash off and let dry. The cling will return.
STORAGE FOR YOUR UNMOUNTED STAMPS
There are several ways to store your unmounted rubber stamps. I find that a regular CD case (not the slimline) is wonderful for storing stamps. With the “cling cushion” on the backs of the stamps, they cling to the bottom of the case and stay in place.
You can stamp the images of the stamps on card stock and enclose in the case on the top of the stamps for easy identification! You can also label the spine of the CD case and store them in a CD rack. Another common storage idea is a 3 ring binder with sheet protectors.
